Prof. Dr. Harun-Ur-Rashid is a distinguished nephrologist in Dhaka with a career spanning over four decades. He began his nephrology journey in 1981 after completing postgraduate training and earning a PhD from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK. He joined the Institute of Postgraduate Medicine and Research (IPGMR) in Dhaka as a specialist teacher, where he pioneered the first live-related kidney transplantation in Bangladesh in 1981.

As a visionary leader, Prof. Dr. Harun-Ur-Rashid established the Kidney Foundation of Bangladesh in 2003, creating a not-for-profit hospital for treating kidney disease, dialysis, and transplantation. He has published over 156 research articles and guided numerous postgraduate students. His contributions have earned him international recognition, including the Joel D. Copple award in 2013 from the International Federation of Kidney Foundations.
