She holds an MBBS, DCH, and FCPS (Pediatrics), with specialized fellowship training in pediatric oncology from Tata Medical Centre, India. She also completed observation and job training in bone marrow transplantation at Tata Medical Centre and People Tree Hospitals in India.

Prof. Col. (Rtd) Dr. Shormin Ara Ferdousi made history as the first-ever pediatric bone marrow transplant specialist in Bangladesh, successfully performing the country’s first pediatric bone marrow transplant. She also pioneered bone marrow transplants for thalassemia patients in Bangladesh, providing life-saving treatment. She previously led the Pediatric Oncology Department at Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Dhaka, before joining Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital.
